How is the software distributed? Is there any administration?
Site licenses are assigned on the basis of an Internet domain name, such as @your_company.com. Anyone who has a valid email address from your licensed site may go to a form on CambridgeSoft's website to obtain a serial number and registration code that will allow them to download and install the software on their computer. Anyone with a valid email address at your licensed site would be covered by your site license and would be able to install the software. Since there is no limit to the number of people who can install the software under the site license, there is nothing more to administer.
If the software we are licensing includes databases, how do we access them?
Many of our databases are available as online editions and can be accessed through the web. This includes The Merck Index, ChemACX, ChemINDEX and others. If the software packages you license includes web available databases, you get access to these too.
Who may use the software?
Anyone with a valid email address at your local company site can use the software. You probably have already assigned email addresses to everyone based on your own criteria for who should get an address at your company. Anyone with such an address would qualify for this site license. For Global Annual Site Licenses here is no geographic limitation to the site license. Individual users will most commonly be in the same town, but they can be in entirely different countries without violating the terms of the license, as long as they have a Global Annual Site License and valid email address at your company.
Can we install the software in a computer lab?
Absolutely. The person doing the installation must be covered by the site license and they can install the software on however many computers they want. That includes computers in a computer lab, or any other computers they have responsibility over.
Can employees install the software at home?
Absolutely. Employees can install the software on their home computer.
What happens after a year?
We expect that most companies will renew their license rather than let it expire. If your license expires, you will only lose the ability to create new data and to edit existing data. You will still be able to view any data you had created while under the site license.
What if the software is updated before our license expires?
The Annual Site License allows you to use the latest version of the software, regardless of when that version was released. Each user will have to download and install the update, of course, but they are certainly allowed to do so under the terms of the license.
